Course Aims

The course takes the Balanced Scorecard approach to running a successful business.

The balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in business  worldwide to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals. 

It was originated by Drs. Robert Kaplan (Harvard Business School) and David Norton as a performance measurement framework  to give businesses a more ‘balanced’ view of organisational performance.

When and where?

Friday 2pm, once per month for 2 hours via Zoom meeting. There will be a presentation of the principals, question and answer session, review of performance from the previous month and set goals for the coming month. All webinars will be recorded and made available for download.

The next course starts on September 4th and then on the first Friday of the month for 5 months.*

Month 1 - Finances

We will look at how to make business decisions which keep more cash in your business which keeps you more financially secure and comfortable and enables you to invest more readily.

Month 2 - Business Processes

We will take a detailed look at workflow analysis and how you can use each stage of the work process to enhance your business.

  • Where does CADCAM fit in? How can you continuously nurture the relationship with your clients (Customer Relationship Management)?
  • Where is the ‘value’ in the various processes of your business and how can you optimise these to get more clients and work more efficiently (Value Chain Analysis).
  • What future developments can you anticipate now, how can you prepare for them and how can you even predict them?

This module is specifically designed to help you be more EFFICIENT and COMPETITIVE IN THE LONG TERM.

You will have taken a detailed look at workflow analysis and how you can use each stage of the work process to enhance your business..

Month 3 - Managing People

  • If we can truly understand each other’s motivators we can begin to create a Highly Performing Team.
  • And what about de-motivators?

If we can eradicate/reduce de-motivating factors within the laboratory it leads to a far more pleasant working environment. This process begins with a robust recruitment policy, how do you find technicians, how should you decide who to employ and how can you ensure you comply with the law?

This module is specifically designed to help you have A HIGHLY PERFORMING AND MOTIVATED TEAM.

You will have a deeper understanding of how to eradicate/reduce de-motivating factors within the laboratory and increase the motivating factors it leads to a far more pleasant working environment.

There is a minimum of 10 delegates required for the course to run. Please do share this with your fellow technicians and laboratory owners to ensure we have enough delegates. 

You will need to provide your bank details for a direct debit mandate, course fees will then only be taken if the course runs.

You have a 7-day cooling off period after signing up using the form above. If you cancel after your cooling off period you may still be charged the full course fees.

If you decide to cancel your place any fees paid/due will only be refunded/not taken if the minimum delegate requirement is still met. If, by cancelling, you reduce the delegate count to 9 or less then you will either need to continue to pay the full fees or find another delegate to take your place.

By entering your direct debit details, in the form we will send, you are signing up to gain access to the course. Course fees apply even if you do not attend any of the webinars or join the Facebook group.
